How to get to Leuven


Leuven is easy to reach by car, bus and train.

When you come by airplane, you arrive at Brussels International Airport, situated in Zaventem, between Leuven en Brussels. For more information on our international airport, see www.brusselsairport.be.

By train from Brussels International Airport (Zaventem) to Leuven
The easiest way to get to Leuven from the airport is by train. The train station is located in the basement (level -1) of the airport terminal building itself.
There is a direct train from the airport to Leuven each hour. The train takes about 15 minutes to Leuven. Schedule information for the Airport City Express is available on www.b-rail.be.
A single journey will cost about 6 EUR.

By taxi from Brussels International Airport (Zaventem) to Leuven
Taxis are available outside the Arrivals Hall. Licensed taxis can be identified by the yellow and blue licence emblem. Always avoid unlicensed taxis!
The distance between the airport and Leuven is about 20 km. The price is approximately 60 EUR.

By CAR
By car (via European motorways E40 or E314/A2)

  • Approaching Leuven on the motorway E40 from Brussels (Brussel - Bruxelles) or from Liège (Luik): take crossing to motorway E314/A2 (direction Aken-Genk-Hasselt and Leuven). Immediately after, take exit Leuven (no 15).
  • Approaching Leuven on motorway E314/A2 from Aken-Genk-Hasselt: take exit Leuven (no 15).

Please be aware that it's hard to find parking space in Leuven!

In Leuven the buses of the public transport company De Lijn will swiftly take you anywhere in the city.
